Facebook...I want to scream.

Alright, I am going to admit this right up front---I am probably one of the biggest Facebook noobs you have ever come into contact with.

I fought against the repeated temptations to join and then finally in May I did. Spent a fantastically insane amount of time building connections between my blogs and those I found on Facebook and at one point the connections to my FB page was bringing in new readers so much per day that I marveled at my stupidity in dragging my feet in creating a Facebook page.

Then it happened. My hard drive died last week, replaced it, spent several days trying to locate my bits-n-pieces...and then thought, "Gee I better check Facebook. It had been only 4 days since I last signed in----BUT----they deactivated my page and it reverted to the page and content that was on there the first day (first 24 hrs) that I created it. I lost ALL my friends/followers, ALL my content, ALL my links.......ok----everything!

Then the anger set in. When my hard-drive had died I had been relieved to know that all my content was elsewhere on the net and that all I had to do was go and collect it again. WRONG. Guess what?
There is no link on FACEBOOK for HELP...only more equally distraught and upset individuals who like myself just lost everything. Seriously...there is no official help from Facebook. In fact, people were so upset that they created new profiles with names like "Facebook AnswerURphone" or "Helpdesk Facebook" and "MIA Facebook Admin" then finally "Contact Facebookgoodluck" so at least I know that I was not the only one to be in this mess.

In a way it was a little funny...because I knew Facebook was rapidly trying to delete those angry profiles just as fast as they were springing up...and at the same time millions of people were probably screaming nasty things that were best deleted anyway. I posted a few myself while overwhelmed by righteous anger and they are all gone.

I did eventually find that teeny itsy-bitsy microscopic obscure note which said they were aware of the issue and working on it and to click "here" to make a report. Really....it was so obscure it made me mad. What kind of site expects you to hand over all your private data, steals it from you and then places a microscopic note in an obscure place? I had temporary teamsugar flashbacks. If they had any PR people at all it would be in a well-placed announcement easily found right?

Ok...venting here a little and please know I appreciate it. Yes I am a big idiot for accidentally tossing my back-up disc into the trash when I moved. Yes I am a complete Noob and Idiot for not backing it all up again. But mostly...yes I feel better now that I can blame something on someone else. I mean...what happened on Facebook was not my fault so reasonably I can be mad. All those "FaceinHole" pics I created are gone---works of art---I am heartbroken. I am so pathetic.

Whew. Now...anyone got any answers besides pointing and laughing at me?

Is it wrong to de-friend people because their status updates are annoying?

i'm at work all day and go on facebook to zone out a bit. i'll have like 4 updates from people i knew in high school about how "baby jonas woves wittle cookies but not the big uns!" STFU! or "i'm so bored when baby's sleeping... I think i'll shop!"
this wouldn't be interesting conversation much less an update to your status. maybe if your baby was smearing pop on the walls or caught a showijng of scarface and now you can't get him to stop swearing. or tells you "i'll do it tomorrow" when you ask him to do something because he got it from you.
So i've already created a list of "friends friends" and "no really friends" and have my home page set to only show the friends friends updates and and only share most of my info with them also. but I'm starting to think I need to just scrap them all and only be friends with people i'm still friends with IRL and then winnow it down by annoying ness of updates.
How who you suggest organizing friends once the novelty of collecting wears off?

Microsoft Office for Mac help

1. Get over it, I don't use Apple Works

2. Every time I open Word or click on the already opened program via the dock, a new blank document opens, any idea how to make it stop, it's annoying.

Blue Screen of Death?

So I just saw the infamous "blue screen of death" on my PC. I restarted my computer and it seems to be working fine...for now. I fear it will happen again and that it will only get worse. My files are already backed up but what should I do next? Is there any solution really?

Free Photo Editing Software

I've wanted a free photo editing program for a while now but can't afford something like Photoshop. A simple Google search turned up quite a few results. Which is the best free photo editing program out there?

mac headphones

I love my ipod headphones and so does my cat..unfortunately she chews them as soon as I leave them unattended to. Last night she even stuck her paw into the back of my laptop bag and pulled it out..leaving me a nice surprise in the morning. I bought two more sets today along with a tin of altoids and I plan on temporarily leaving my headphones in this as a protective measure. Are there any better geekier cuter headphone cases?

Choosing a new Cell Phone?

Hi girls,
I'm trying to help my dad choose a new cell phone. He's a total gadget-head, but admits that he doesn't need/wouldn't use a smartphone. He'd LOVE a reason to have an iPhone, but all he really does is talk on the phone. He needs a phone with a speakerphone, bluetooth, voice dialing, and great call quality. He doesn't need internet, or data, or email . . . And he's loved his RAZR for the past two years. We're looking at the Motorola MOTO, but it gets mixed reviews, although people on their reviews seem to agree that it is similar to the RAZR. He was saddened when we realized that there are no RAZRs available anymore (except for the pay-as-you-go option).

He'd like to go with either AT&T or Verizon. Does anyone have any ideas?

External Hard Drives?

Today I realized that I only have 150mb left on my iMac. I would like to get an external hard drive (a big one, preferably 1TB), but am not sure what to look for in the specifications. Any suggestions?

DSLR

I am looking into getting my first DSLR. I've hold out on getting one before because I thought my normal point and shoot was enough, but on a recent trip to Orlando, I noticed that I really wanted to capture a lot more, and at a faster speed and my point and shoot just couldn't handle it.

I have narrowed my choices to two popular models the Nikon D90 and the Canon EOS 50D. I want a camera that will last me at least 5 years.

The Nikon D90's video capability sounds sweet, and I have heard that Nikon's color quality is much richer than Canon's, but the EOS 50D's faster shutter speed makes it awesome to me too.

Anyways since I want something that will last me longer, I need opinions on which company has better lenses and such. Please help me out.

How do I add a link? (the pretty way)

When I want to put a link in my posts to another blog, article, or whatever, I copy and paste the address and put that in my post,
like http://www. (whatever the address is) (and it's in pink)

I see other people doing it where they have pink letters, such as "see Coco's blog" and when you click on the words "Coco's blog" you get to the link. Sometimes the link is even in a new tab.

Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

I hope this makes sense.

Update:
TEST:
I'm wren, and this is my blog
